Read & Annotate Articles (20 min): Go to OneNote à Content Library à Handouts à PRO/CON: To label, or not to label, GMO food. In here, you have an article about whether or not foods that have been genetically modified should have to be labeled as such. Read the full article and annotate it for the following: Highlight and take notes on both the claims and evidence that the author presents. You will use this information in tomorrow’s class.

Journal (20 min): In the scene you just finished reading, Beatty explained to Montag how the world came to be in the state it is in where no one reads or discusses anything of substance. With technology, we are quickly becoming the mass society that Beatty describes in real life. How to we ensure that in our society we hear people’s concerns, but do not fall into the “ultra PC” society that Beatty describes in which we oversimplify things to the point where people no longer care? Remember, you answer should be a minimum of 1 paragraph (that is the bare min. and the bare min. gets you a C).
Article and Notes Reviews (10 min): Take 10 minutes and review your articles and annotations from yesterday as well as your notes from Tuesday. Make sure you are very familiar with content.
Argumentative Writing (30 minutes): Write a clear argumentative paragraph for the following question: Should companies and farmers have to label their produce and animal products with a “Genetically Modified Organism” (GMO) label if they have been modified? --> Create a page on your F451 Tab and label it "GMO Response" and put your answer there.
Free Write (20 minutes): Create a page with today’s date in your free write tab and complete a 2 paragraph free write on anything you’d like to discuss.
Current Event Articles (30 minute): Go to OneNote à Content Library à Handouts à Officials discuss pros and cons of arming school teachers. Copy the article to your F451 Tab and read the article “Officials discuss pros and cons of arming school teachers” Annotate this article by highlighting claims and evidence that you find both in favor and opposition of the idea of arming teachers.
Current Event Argumentative Writing (40 minutes): Write a clear argumentative paragraph for the following question: In order to deal with the issue of school shootings, do you believe that teachers should be armed? --> Create a page on your F451 Tab and label it "Armed Teacher Response" and put your answer there.
Turn-In Vocabulary Work to the sub (5 min): Both your definitions and fill in the blank papers should be turned in. Both should have your name on it!
Get Fahrenheit 451 Books (15 minutes): You will be walking up to the library with the Sub to get your Fahrenheit 451 books. Please be orderly, quiet, and respectful as you cross campus to get your books. Mrs. Hein will be collecting your book cards and giving them to me later.
Read Pages 28-40 (20 minutes): After you get back, you will read silently for 30 minutes. In that time you should read pages 28-40 of your new book.
VLAMIF Chart (15 minutes): After you read, take 15 minutes to fill out a little bit in every row of your VLAMIF chart.
Journal Entry 3 (15 minutes): Bradbury opens the novel with a quote from Juan Ramón Jiménez: “If they give you ruled paper, write the other way.” Why did Bradbury select this statement, and what does it mean?
