Introduction:
Since graduating in 2005 from San Diego State University, I have been in the field of education. My journey began with Teach For America in Phoenix, AZ and since then, I have been a teacher, professional development trainer, School Board President, and Managing Director of an education nonprofit. I have both led and been a member of teams that have launched schools and programs from scratch, worked with many turn-around schools, and have been an overall innovative force in many of my projects. My approach to leadership is to observe, listen to the needs of my team, and work collaboratively to get things done! It is paramount to build strong relationships and make sure that everyone on the team is supported to get their work done.

Hobbies:
When I'm not working, you will often find me partaking in one of my hobbies and if you ask my wife, I have too many of them! I like to play around with digital photography, video, build things, ride motorcycles, collect old vinyl....and so on! OK, so maybe she is right. On any given weekend, you might find me in my garage building a bookshelf or table, working on my Harley, all while listening to A LOT of music. One of the things I enjoy most is taking pictures of things. I'm not great at taking pictures of people, but I do enjoy taking pictures of landscapes, buildings, water towers, etc...As well, I like to play around with Photoshop and Illustrator to see what creative things I can come up with. You can check out some the work I've done on Instagram by clicking the logo to the right.

When the whether is good and I can find a babysitter, you might see (or hear) me on my Harley! I've been riding since I was 19 and LOVE being on the bike. The pictures on the left or of the following:
Top: I took a ride with a few friends to the Castello di Amorosa in Napa. The guy who built it had all the stones and parts of the castle shipped from Italy! It was a lot of fun to tour and they sell some great Grape Seed oil for cooking along with other fine products made from grapes. Bottom Left: One of our favorite places to ride is along the coast! This particular picture is of my wife and I coming down the mountain into Pacifica, CA. We ate lunch at a Taco Bell that is literally on the beach, it was amazing (I love Taco Bell, don't judge). I'm a sucker for beach towns and take any opportunity I can to ride out to them. Bottom Right: Us loading up for a ride to our favorite diner "Alice's" in Woodside, CA. My wife starts every ride by telling me "don't kill us..." I suppose it's a pretty valid request when riding a motorcycle. |
I am the son of a contractor and while I may not have my father's skill, I do love to build things! I am by no means a master wood worker, but I really enjoy the process of making something from nothing. This particular piece is a table for a doll house. Our daughters love their doll house but they needed something to set it on so they could stand and play with it.
I've built a fair amount in my time: tables, stools, pantries, entertainments centers, beds, etc...My dream is to one day build a tiny house or cabin on some land by a lake somewhere! |
Above: I don't even know if I qualify as an armature wood worker!
